In my opinion, Marketing is Marketing, regardless of the product or service being marketed. For example, if I were to do marketing for an Auto Mechanic Store, I would not have to know how to fix a car in order to do his/her marketing. I would find out pertinent information, such as product, potential clients, price, etc. and combine it with my marketing experience. Using this information, I would create a Marketing Plan.

I work in the pharmaceutical industry as a medical representative, and every six months we receive our own copies of marketing plan of action with respect to our products. Unfortunately, these documents are confidential.

I agree that Marketing is Marketing regardless of the industry or the product. You have to go through the same process and ask the same questions. I like software programs so I have investigated business plan software and marketing plan software and have found that Palo Alto has the best to offer. One thing I was told was to keep the answers brief….don’t write a book on each question. The business plan pro has a marketing part to it so if you only want one ($99/ea) then I would go with the business plan pro. They have the questions that need to be considered. I have a lot of books as well, on both. I am also in the Pharmaceutical Industry as a contract consultant as a computer and equipment validation engineer. You can find the software at. Hope this helps.
